What can you tell us about how this triptych came into being I found the triptych format fresh and creatively appealing. I had been thinking about the Kierkegaard quote and how it relates to the writing process as well as to life. I thought that if anything could only be understood backwards, then death, the ultimate unknown, would be it. I am interested in science and spirituality, especially the historic developments and conflicts between the two, and this piece is essentially a riff on what would happen after death if the animating spark did not do what we believed or imagined it might but instead remained within the decaying body. Morbid, I know, but we’re all going there—so one day we’ll find out. Or not.
